On the afternoon of July 31, the School of International Education organized 16 international students from Ghana to visit Chenjia Community to participate in the intangible cultural heritage kite cultural experience activity and experience the charm of Weifang's local kite culture.
At the beginning of the event, staff from the Weifang Kite Museum introduced the origin, types and production process of kites, and let international students understand the relevant knowledge of kite making and flying. Afterwards, they led international students to experience the kite making process up close and told everyone the Chinese stories and Chinese wisdom behind the kites. After the event, international students were interviewed by the media. They said that through the intangible cultural heritage class, they learned that kites have a history of more than 2,400 years in China. The process of learning to make kites is also a way to understand Chinese culture. They hope to continue to experience and learn in the next intangible cultural heritage class.
Civilization is colorful because of communication and enriched by mutual learning. This event enriched the extracurricular life of international students, enhanced their understanding of Weifang kite intangible cultural heritage and community, shortened the distance between foreign friends and Weifang, allowed international students to appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture, enhanced their understanding and identification of Chinese civilization, and made a positive contribution to telling the stories of China and Weifang.
